Tyre manufacturer Camso, formerly 3203 Camoplast Solideal, has opened a plant in Vietnam to cover the Asian material handling market.

“This new 23,000m2 manufacturing facility is a commitment to being the best partner for our original equipment manufacturers and aftermarket customers of the Asian market,” said Jean-François Ferland, vice president and general manager of material handling at Camso, based in the Canadian province of Quebec. “The facility is an investment to grow our leadership position in the material handling sector.”

The factory, built in 14 months, is in the Vietnam Singapore Industrial Park in Tan Uyen Town, Binh Duong Province. A company statement said that Vietnam, as the world's fifth largest rubber producing country, offers access to raw materials, competitive quality labour and a favourable industrial economic environment to conduct its operations.

Camso's new facility in Vietnam completes the manufacturing footprint of the company with facilities in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, China, Hungary, Italy, South Korea, Sri Lanka and the US.

Meanwhile, Toyota Material Handling Europe honoured Camso as Supplier of the Year 2015 in the Counterbalanced Trucks category for collaborating on a new range of Toyota forklifts. Camso worked closely with Toyota Material Handling Europe to introduce its Solideal Magnum Resilient forklift tyre on Toyota's new counterbalanced trucks.

The development project began in France more than two years ago. The Solideal Magnum’s wide profile and flat footprint are designed to maximise tyre life. With large tread blocks and deep lugs, Camso said the Solideal Magnum provides the best traction and delivers maximum stability and ride comfort.
