Perkins celebrates manufacture of 20,000,000th diesel engine

UK-based engine producer Perkins has celebrated the production of its 20,000,000th engine. The company started in business building engines 81 years ago and this milestone was celebrated with a ceremony, attended by 70 employees. The 20,000,000th engine was a 1206 two-stage turbo Tier 4 diesel engine, built at its factory at Peterborough in the UK. Engine manufacturer Perkins has celebrated the production of the 20,000,000 engine to roll off its production line
UK-based engine producer 299 Perkins has celebrated the production of its 20,000,000th engine. The company started in business building engines 81 years ago and this milestone was celebrated with a ceremony, attended by 70 employees. The 20,000,000th engine was a 1206 two-stage turbo Tier 4 diesel engine, built at its factory at Peterborough in the UK. Of the 20,000,000 engines the firm has built, at least 4.5 million are still in use.

The company builds engines at its manufacturing facilities in Peterborough and Stafford, UK; Griffin in Georgia, USA; Curitiba in Brazil; and Wuxi in China.  The copany builds engines in the 4–2000kW power range and has been a wholly owned subsidiary of 178 Caterpillar since 1998.
