By integrating its forging operations in its components business area thyssenkrupp believes it has established one of the world’s biggest companies for this industry segment. The company has linked its operations at its sites in Europe, North and South America, India and China. The new business unit thyssenkrupp Forged Technologies has around 7,000 employees at 18 production sites and a broad distribution network in over 70 countries. The business unit has sales of over €1 billion and operates over 50 forging presses worldwide. The product portfolio includes forged and machined components and systems for the construction machinery sector. The integration is intended to take advantage of the synergies between the companies´ forging activities and to increase its market share.

"This is a strategic move that will allow us to serve our target markets in a much quicker and customized way. We want to reposition the company as a diversified supplier of components and systems solutions for a wide range of industries and markets. The combined capabilities enable new products to be developed and new customer segments to be explored," said Alexander Becker, CEO of the new Forged Technologies unit at thyssenkrupp.

Represented by the well-known Italian brand “2653 Berco”, thyssenkrupp Forged Technologies is one of the leading global manufacturers of rolling stock for heavy machinery. The products include track chains, rollers, idlers, drive sprockets and track shoes used in excavator and bulldozer undercarriages. Its systems and components serve both original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and spare parts distributors.

The product range of Berco meets the request of an increasingly demanding market. From mining products to mini undercarriage and utilities to the complete track system solutions, thyssenkrupp Forged Technologies offers tailor-made products.

In line with the concept to offer more product value and to reduce the operating cost for the final end users, the company proposes a new range of sealed and lubricated track chains for bulldozers. Those products feature innovative seal material and design materials which improve the durability that leads to a lifetime improvement of up to 60% compared to traditional ones. The innovation is enhanced and completed by using dedicated extreme pressure lubricant, allowing operation at any ambient working temperature.
