LiuGong and ZF have agreed a partnership to develop and manufacture a new transmission system for wheeled loaders and graders

269 LiuGong and 2304 ZF have agreed a partnership to develop a new generation of transmissions for use in wheeled loaders and graders. The new system will be developed from existing ZF designs but will be aimed at the needs of the Chinese market.

This new generation driveline is being developed from the proven BP230 system, itself a development of the ERGOPOWER system. However LiuGong says that the BP230 adopted a structure tailored for Chinese users, providing smooth shifting and also making assembly and maintenance easier. The new system is smaller, but is stronger output and allows a machine to reach a higher speed while carrying the same load, to deliver greater productivity.

More compact, the new system is better suited to the torque converter according to LiuGong. Meanwhile the firm says that the new system also offers a reduced oil consumption as well as lower noise and smoother shifting. In addition it features remote diagnostics to monitor performance and highlight potential faults so that these can be addressed during maintenance periods rather than risking costly downtime.

The transmission can be widely used in wheel loaders and graders, such as LiuGong’s 856H, 862H, 870H wheel loaders. Options for four-speed and six-speed automatic gearboxes are available. The system is a replacement for the EGROPOWER transmission. The product is expected to begin large-volume production in November 2018.
