A UK demolition provider has boosted its investment in 236 Hyundai and 2991 Powerscreen equipment, including a new Powerscreen Premiertrak 300R mobile crusher and Chieftain 1700 screen.

A1 Demolition & Services, based in Nottinghamshire, England, recently spent nearly US$750,000 on the equipment. It picked up a Hyundai R220LC-9A crawler excavator and a Hyundai HL770-9 wheeled loader, alongside a Powerscreen Premiertrak 300R mobile crusher and Chieftain 1700 screen. The investment is A1’s plan to adapt to environmentally friendly operations. Reducing the carbon footprint by 50% is in the UK government’s Construction 2025 strategy, introduced in 2013, as part of a goal to make the construction sector more efficient and less polluting.

“Hyundai’s latest machines have strong environmental and safety credentials too which in building our business and moving it forward was crucial,” said Craig Jackson, owner of A1.  Powering the R220LC-9A crawler excavator is a low-emission, low-noise, 117kW 196 Cummins Interim Tier 4/Stage IIIB, QSB6.7 engine. The engine is complemented by a patented VGT Turbocharger, which continuously varies the airflow boost to precisely match engine RPM and load demands for optimal performance.

With the added equipment, A1 can offer customers on-site processing that saves the client significantly on haulage and extraction costs as well as on aggregate tax.

Powering the HL770-9A is the Cummins QSL9 engine which meets the stringent EPA Tier 4 Interim and EU Stage IIIB emissions standard with improved performance and wide-ranging power solution extending from 179-298kW.  The QSL9 will achieve up to 5% better fuel efficiency and lowers operation costs.

The new Powerscreen Premiertrak 300R(PT300R) is high performance primary mobile jaw crusher, designed for medium scale demolition and recycling operations. The PT300R offers hydraulic crusher setting adjustment for complete and speedy control of product size and overload protection to prevent damage by foreign objects in the crushing chamber. The highly efficient Powerscreen Premiertrak 300 can run at low engine RPM giving excellent fuel consumption and low noise emissions which is beneficial in built-up areas for demolition sites.

With the Tier 4 interim/Stage IIIB emissions requirements due next year, further upgrades will be required for all wheeled loaders sold in Europe and North America. In the mean time manufacturers are focussing on improvements that cut cycle times, boost productivity and reduce downtime for example. From Doosan comes the DL420 wheeled loader, which takes over from the previous DL400 and is aimed at use in a range of materials-handling work. The DL420 features a 4m3 bucket and is a 22.3tonne machine that
