Concrete equipment specialist 2344 Utranazz has launched its versatile Mobile Volumetric Batching Plant (MVBP) at UK quarrying and recycling show Hillhead 2010.

The Hydromix MVBP has a roll-on roll-off system that allows for multiple mounting options, for example inside the back of a tipper body; onto a hook-loader sub-chassis; skid-mounted for yard use or permanently mounted onto the back of a lorry.

The unit was designed by Utranazz in conjunction with Bertoli especially for the UK quarrying and recycling markets and is said to be ideal for use by tipper fleet operators and on site wet batching companies.

The unit can be rolled into the back of a tipper body or mounted onto a hook-loader sub-chassis in a matter of minutes using the tipper or hook loaders' own control system. The Hydromix MVBP works completely autonomously, having its own engine, hydraulic pumps, water system and loading/off-loading legs, and can also be skid-mounted and left to work as an independent unit on the jobsite.

As with conventional volumetric concrete mixers, the Hydromix MVBP has two separate compartments for aggregates, a cement hopper, a water tank and additive tanks.

Available in 2-10m³ capacities, it can supply all types of concrete, screed and mortar in volumes from as little as a barrow load up to impressive rates of 60m3/hour.

"It is fully radio remote-controlled and is fitted with a telescopic discharge belt, capable of discharging at distances of 10m with chutes and slewing through 180°, making on site pouring easy. The mobility of the unit even allows concrete to be produced and discharged while the plant is moving," says Utranazz.

As construction machines have become more sophisticated, so have the transmission systems used in items of equipment. Advances in electronics and software in particular have allowed the development of integrated transmissions. These operate more efficiently and help optimise power delivery from an engine, boosting torque response and cutting fuel consumption and emissions at the same time. The smart electronics
