The new Terex Finlay mobile primary jaw crusher is said to offer high versatility
A versatile new primary mobile jaw crusher has been developed by 3501 Terex Finlay. The high performance J-1170AS is built around the productive 1222 Terex 1100mm x 700mm jaw crusher, which is a proven machine in a range of tough recycling and aggregate production applications.  A key feature of this model is the onboard detachable sizing screen, which allows for better control by the operator.

The Terex 1100mm x 700mm jaw chamber provides good material reduction and product sizing when processing blasted quarry rock. The jaw chamber is also available with optional hydraulic release, an excellent feature when crushing construction and demolition debris. The hydraulic release option has an automatic overload protection system to prevent damage by uncrushable items in the feed material.

The machine is powered by either a Tier 3/Stage IIIA compliant 178 Caterpillar C9 261kW or a Tier 4 Interim/Stage IIIB 759 Scania DC9 70A 257kW. Hydrostatic transmission of the jaw chamber is said to allow reversible operation in the event of a blockage. The hydrostatic system also provides variable chamber speed to suit given applications. The crusher features hydraulic assist chamber CSS (Closed Side Setting) adjustment, and can be changed quickly.

The machine has a heavy duty variable speed vibrating grizzly feeder (VGF) with integrated pre-screen, providing an aggressive action to separate fines efficiently. The variable speed VGF ensures continuous choke feeding of the crushing chamber for optimal productivity. Material from the pre-screen can be diverted to a stock pile via the onboard bypass conveyor, or join the crushed product on the main belt.

The large 9.6m³ hopper has hydraulically folding sides and an innovative hydraulic self-locking mechanism to provide efficient and faster machine set-up and tear down times. As the machine has an onboard sizing screen, it can produce a specified product without the need for a secondary screen. The sizing screen can also be detached without the need for additional lifting gear which means that the machine can be used as conventional J-1170 jaw crusher, providing extra versatility. The machine can also be transported easily, further adding to its versatility.

Other important features include a screen system that can be removed quickly allowing the operator to use it as a standard unit and an automatic variable speed VGF that ensures continuous choke feeding of the crushing chamber for optimal productivity. They also include a high-powered hydrostatic drive that ensures precise chamber control, hydraulic assisted closed side setting, compact dimensions and quick set-up times, good fuel economy and safe, quick service points for maintenance.
