Shell prepares for Philippines infrastructure boom

Pilipinas Shell is investing around US$13 million in a new bitumen production facility in Tabangao, Batangas. With President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration planning to spend P8.2 trillion on infrastructure during his six-year term, Shell wants to be ready to participate fully. Pilipinas Shell is investing around US$13 million in a new bitumen production facility in Tabangao, Batangas. With President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration planning to spend P8.2 trillion on infrastructure during his six-year term, Shell wants to be ready to participate fully.

"In terms of target market, for the moment, we are actually in a good position because we are about 50% of the bitumen market in the Philippines already. We aim to continue to increase that," said Pilipinas Shell’s president and CEO Cesar Romero. The new facility is expected to open in the first quarter of 2018.
