The 325 Sandvik QI341 Prisec HIS Impactor has proven to be an essential machine for recycling applications in the Netherlands following recent demonstrations by Kuiken Group.

Kuiken, which became a Sandvik Construction distributor for mobile crushing and screening products in 2012, recently hosted a demonstration of the HIS Impactor, complete with hanging screen system. A closed circuit crushing system means the machine can produce a calibrated product without the need for further machines.

Its compact size and ease of mobility make it ideal for inner-city recycling sites where space is limited. The QI341 is easily transported by low loader, moved onto the next location and quickly set-up.

During the demonstrations the QI341 was fed 0-600mm recycled concrete material at a rate of 190-200tonnes per hour. The crushed product will be primarily be recycled sub-base material for road construction. The steel bar present in the feed was also to be recycled after being discharged by the overband magnet.

The pre-screen process was completed through the highly efficient double deck pre-screen with a high operating speed and an aggressive throw for excellent separation. For this application, the customer used a 60mm punched plate on the top deck accompanied by 40mm square mesh for the bottom deck.

All remaining material was passed down into the crushing chamber to the Sandvik’s CI411 Prise HSI Impact Crusher which operated at 630rpm shaft speed. The crusher work as either a primary or secondary machine with a simple adjustment of the curtain shaft positions.

For this application the crusher chamber was in primary position with the first curtain at 180mm and second at 50-60mm. This curtain adjustment allowed the machine to achieve outstanding reduction ratios but also provided a solution for crusher blockages as the curtains can be hydraulically raised allowing the blockage to pass.

The QI341 Impactor chamber also features a heavy duty four-bar rotor system with a tip speed range of 30-3m per second. This can also be operated with two full and two half blow bars depending on the application. The bars are held in position by a simple and easy to remove wedge system which allows very quick change out time.

The hanging screen system is a single deck, two-bearing screen box which, for this application, featured a 55mm square mesh allowing the machine to put a sized product on the ground. The oversize product can be either returned or stockpiled using a hydraulically controlled slew ring system on the recirculating conveyor.

One of the key developments of note for the bauma China exhibition in late 2014 was the number of Chinese manufacturers now looking to compete in the quarrying sector. Also of note was how Western manufacturers are also taking the emergent markets seriously, developing machines to counter this increased competition from China. In many cases Western manufacturers have partnered with Chinese firms, bought out Chinese companies
