Speed and efficiency from Sandvik’s Prisec CI521 horizontal shaft impactor
Schneps, based in Stockerau, Austria, has evolved from being a shipping and forwarding agent to being a recycling specialist. But in order to raise production, Schneps decided to build a recycling plant near Vienna and contacted BAG Klöch Aufbereitungstechnik, 2403 Sandvik Construction’s distributor for crushing and screening equipment.

A flowchart was created using Sandvik PlantDesigner software that set up a virtual recycling plant tuned to Schneps’ needs. At the core of the newly designed plant is the Sandvik Prisec CI521 horizontal shaft impactor.

The modular design of the Prisec series enables conversion of the equipment from a primary to a secondary crusher quickly and with no additional parts.

The new crushing chamber configuration enables a higher crushing rate than before. It comes equipped with two infinitely adjustable, hydraulic-operated curtains. This along with the newly developed braking system enables the corresponding impact curtain to be lifted and held in position when any uncrushable material enters the crusher.

Both the first and the second curtains are equipped with an adjustment/braking system, located on the cross-beams of the crusher. Blockages, crusher downtime and hazards for health and safety are kept to a minimum.

Core components of the crusher are the rotor and the hammers. The weight and improved design of the rotor easily gives the crusher the inertia needed for optimum crusher performance. The modular design - banana shape - of the hammers ensures a uniform wear pattern during the entire wear or service lifetime, producing a uniform product. A key safety interlock system prevents unintentional opening of the crusher or the inspection hatches.

Schneps now efficiently handles building waste recycling in an area up to 70km from Stockerau, turning the material into high-quality products.
