US firm Blastcrete Equipment says that its new Dampcon Rig offers a complete system for pre-dampening and installing dry process shotcrete materials. The rig features a variable speed mixer, conveyor and gunite machine. This is said to suit it to concrete repair and precise refractory gunning installations.

The Dampcon Rig features 2647 Blastcrete’s 020 Piccola Rotary Gunite machine for precise control of its output. This is said to allow the unit to deliver an output of up to 4.7m3/hour. The firm claims that its machine is easy to operate and maintain, and features a simple one-bolt clamping system. Unlike typical systems that include three or four adjustment bolts, Blastcrete designed its system to require just one bolt, as this makes it easy to adjust and ensures an effective seal.

The machine has a paddle-style mixer that pre-dampens the gunning materials and minimises dust and rebound material. In addition, the machine has rubber wipers that clean out and reduce material build-up in the mixer. A material elevator with a cleated-belt conveyor transfers material to the gunite machine’s receiving hopper. The mixer also is equipped with a water meter and bar to ensure the proper amount of water is added to each batch.

Blastcrete designed the entire unit to be easy to clean and maintain. The gun is mounted on castors so users can easily push it to the front of the frame for belt cleaning. The mixer also swings out to provide quick and easy access for maintenance and cleaning. Users can clean the entire unit using just compressed air.

The Dampcon Rig is powered by either a 1265 Kubota diesel delivering 22kW or a 15kW electric motor. The unit also is available with a tandem axle trailer equipped with electric braking capabilities and customers also can choose Blastcrete’s skid-mounted model with forklift pockets as well as a hydraulic water booster pump for jobsites with no pressurised water.
