Materials washing specialists 3168 CDE Global has announced the introduction of several screens in the ProGrade range which it says are lighter but stronger and so require less power to operate.

The bolted screens also include no welds and are galvanised as standard, all of which serves to maximise plant life, maximise plant availability and minimise maintenance time.

The patent pending CDE U-Span cross members are modular in design and have increased space between screen decks, allowing for quick and easy access to replace screen media.

The new screen design system is now available on the 2-deck ProGrade P2-75 and P2-108, as well as the 3-deck P3-75 and, in several months, the P3-108.

Innovative formwork systems have been used to construct a variety of bridge structures. Patrick Smith reports. As part of the work on Germany's new A4 autobahn near Eisenach, the contracting joint venture awarded the formwork contract for two of the three viaducts to Doka. What makes this assignment so special to the company is that although the two steel composite bridges each have very different cross-sections, the JV is using the same overslung composite forming carriage to pour the carriageway slabs of

    March 7, 2012
Improved surface quality and improved machine design are key trends in the asphalt paving sector, Mike Woof reports There is a big difference in asphalt paving techniques in North America and Europe. In North America, the need to construct long stretches of highway quickly resulted in wide pavers offering high throughput capacity, with compaction equipment then being used to achieve the required density of the various courses. In Europe's highway construction projects, distances tend to be shorter and contr

Highway safety could yet improve using available technology more widely Safety barriers still offer huge opportunities to improve accident statistics worldwide. There is a wide array of products on the market to suit all types of installation and with a diverse range of solutions for each application. Highway authorities have been installing barriers for many years now and the technology continues to improve, however an analysis of accident statistics shows that barriers offer further potential.
