Questions are being asked in Poland over the poor performance of the recently paved S8 dual carriageway, close to capital Warsaw. The 3519 Polish General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) is asking the consortium that built the S8 link, which comprises, 3302 Budimex 3546 Dromex, 945 Strabag, 3544 Warbud and 3304 Mostostal Warszawa, to repair the affected section. GDDKiA has said that the asphalt density is too low and there are cracks in the road. However, the consortium has responded that the problems have arisen as the project schedule called for work to be carried out during winter, causing fast cooling of the asphalt mat, which affected compaction.

    Poland’s highways directorate, GDDKiA, says 12 bids have been received for construction of the second section of the S7 dual carriageway. The 15km section will run from the Lesznowola junction to the Tarczyn Polnoc junction. Metrostav submitted the highest offer at €118 million, while the cheapest offer came from a consortium of Porr Polska Infrastructure and Porr Bau. Other bidders include others, Budimex, Intercor and Polaqua.

  • Poland: Rubau Polska makes lowest bid in S61Via Baltica tender

    Poland’s road authority GDDKiA said that five groups have tendered for construction of a 17.5km section of the S61 Expressway. The section runs from Podborze junction to Sniadowo junction and all bids fall within the investor's budget of around €146 million. The lowest offer reportedly was from a Rubau Polska consortium, at around €112 million, while the highest bid was lodged by Budimex at around €139 million.
