Major Polish highway project using asphalt supplies

One of Poland’s major highway projects is now progressing on track, with regular shipments of asphalt proving crucial. The major Polish oil and petrol company, Lotos, is playing a key role in material supplies for the country’s A1 highway project. The major Polish oil and petrol company, Lotos, is playing a key role in material supplies for the country’s A1 highway project. Subsidiary firm Lotos Asfalt has supplied some 50,000tonnes of asphalt for work on the Torun to Kowal stretch of the A1 highway.     A series of major road projects is now getting underway in Poland, while tenders for new projects are also opening. Estimates suggest that the construction of six new ring-roads in the Opolszczyzna region will cost some €356 million. These ring roads all form part of the 2014-2023 National Road Construction Programme. The first projects to be carried out will be for the ring-roads around Mysliny and Niemodlina. In all, the National Road Construction Programme will include the building of 57 ring-roads.

    Polish contractors Salini Poland and PBDiM Kobylarnia are building a 64km section of the A1 highway between Toru (Northwest of Warsaw) and Kowale (just south of Gdansk on the Northern coast). This project will complete a key section of the highway and is being funded by the Polish road authority (GDDKiA). Worth some €107 million this is one of three schemes being undertaken by the consortium to complete the main A1 highway.
