Canadian firm 2708 Major Wire Industries now offers an array of innovative technologies for the screening sector. Latest developments include the Flex-Mat 3 High-Performance, Self-Cleaning screen media in Tensioned and Modular versions, OptimumWire Woven Wire and LFM Harp Wire, Double-Weave Woven Wire and Flex-Mat 3 Double-Wire and HyperSlot. These products suit an array of duties in aggregate and asphalt production applications and the novel Flex-Mat 3 high-performance, self-cleaning screen is now available in a tensioned version as an alternative to traditional woven wire, as well as a modular version designed to replace polyurethane and rubber modular screen panels. The Flex-Mat 3 panels are said to provide up to 30% more screen capacity than woven wire and up to 50% more screen capacity than polyurethane and rubber panels. Independently vibrating wires increase product throughput by up to 40% over traditional woven wire or polyurethane panels by increasing open area and eliminating blinding, pegging and clogging. Major Wire's OptimumWire Woven Wire features a chemical makeup that provides up to 40% longer wear life when compared to conventional woven wire of the same diameter. The LFM Harp Wire lasts up to twice as long as traditional harp/piano wire because it is manufactured with the individual wires firmly molded in polyurethane strips, eliminating steel-on-steel wear. The Double-Weave Woven Wire is constructed of two side-by-side, lighter-gauge woven wires and withstands up to four times more impact force than heavier single-strand woven wire. The HyperSlot has a novel alternating crimped and straight wire design that helps increase throughput by causing the material to slow down and tumble over the screen cloth. The Flex-Mat 3 Double-Wire combines a side-by-side wire design with Flex-Mat technology to increase screen capacity and throughput when screening high-impact, heavy and abrasive material.

The crushing and screening sector has seen a flurry of new model launches in recent months, with a series of new equipment introductions - Mike Woof writes. Crushing and screening systems play a vital role in the overall cost effectiveness of a quarrying operation. Ensuring that a quarry runs efficiently relies heavily on the appropriateness of the entire crushing and screening set-up for the material input, the output grades and the compatibility of each separate unit. Mobility has been a key issue in rece
