286 Minnich Manufacturing said that its machine-mounted drills are now available with a number of features engineered to increase safety and productivity in dowel-pin drilling applications, and are available in both hydraulic and pneumatic options.

Primarily used for full-depth repair, Minnich Manufacturing offers excavator or backhoe or skid steer-mounted units that suit horizontal patchwork jobs with a relatively long distance between the areas to be drilled. Apart from increased portability, the dowel-pin drills are also a safe alternative for operators, eliminating fatigue by using the carrier to transport the drill.

Minnich’s pneumatic machine-mounted drills are powered by a compressor, mounted to the counter-weight of the carrier or in the bucket of a backhoe, offering a self-contained solution for patchwork jobs. Many patchwork jobs require the work to be done in high-traffic areas, which make it of the utmost importance to use a highly mobile carrier and drill combination.

One of these is a special application drill designed for pinning temporary concrete barriers that separate traffic from work zones. The drill is said to save time and cost by eliminating the need for multiple workers to drill holes by hand. The barrier-mounted drill is designed to ride along the top of the wall and can drill three holes simultaneously. The self-propelled machine runs off a

Minnich Manufacturing, a maker of concrete dowel pin drills, concrete paving vibrators and vibrator monitoring systems, has developed a concrete barrier wall drill. The tool drills vertical holes for the pins used to secure temporary concrete traffic barriers. Minnich, based in Mansfield, Ohio, said the air-driven and self-propelled drill straddles and rides along the top of the temporary wall. A tethered controller enables the operator to simultaneously drill three accurate, consistent pin holes — through
