Sinaloa State in Mexico is to benefit from major infrastructure development, with the budget being supplied by the Mexican Government. One of the key road links that will be upgraded as a result of the US$462 million budget is the link between Badiraguato and Parral, which runs through the Sierra Madre Occidental mountain range. Highway 24 will be upgraded, improving safety for drivers along this section, which features numerous sharp turns and steep gradients at present. A central section of this highway remains unpaved at present, which the work will address. One end of the unpaved section is at an altitude of some 820, while the other end is at 2,750m, presenting challenges to the construction workers. The authorities have said that they plan to reconstruct the road with a concrete surface, so as to provide a long-lasting structure that will cope with the tough weather conditions experienced in the mountain area.

Rebuilding a congested stretch of highway in Florida will cut congestion and boost safety for commuters - Mike Woof writes.
