Contractor Tarmac will carry out maintenance work on the UK’s busy M25 motorway
Contractor 2399 Tarmac has won a deal that will see the firm carrying out maintenance work on the UK’s M25 motorway. The contract is worth some £10 million/year and is for M25 operator and maintenance company, Connect Plus. The M25 motorway is one of the busiest road links in Europe and runs around UK capital London. The agreement will be for a period of up to 12 years and will see Tarmac carrying out resurfacing work for a total of 440km of motorway as well as the key link roads around London. Tarmac will also be working closely with Connect Plus and other firms with responsibilities for the M25 in a bid to optimise efficiency through all stages of the asset management process.

Paul Fleetham, managing director of Tarmac Contracting, said: “This major award reflects our strong working relationship with Connect Plus and our proven track record of close collaboration with network operators to improve network capacity, minimise disruption and prioritise the safety of road users.

“As well as providing skilled delivery and technical expertise, we will draw on our extensive asphalt plant network in the south east to provide on-demand access to high-quality materials.”

Tarmac’s commitment to working in partnership with Connect Plus and other M25 community members to drive efficiencies and develop new industry leading innovative methods of working were key factors in securing the deal.  The award builds on Tarmac’s previous five-year contract with Connect Plus.

The contract includes resurfacing, milling and joint sealing across the M25 to reduce whole-life costs and minimise maintenance demands on the network.

Chris Richardson, Connect Plus’ commercial director, said “We are excited to be working with a group of highly motivated and skilled suppliers to take the 30 year DBFO concession successfully through the next 10 years and beyond.”
