Canadian road improvements

Some US$264.5 million (C$278 million) is being budgeted for upgrading road links in the Bas-Saint-Laurent area of Quebec Province, Canada.

Some US$264.5 million (C$278 million) is being budgeted for upgrading road links in the Bas-Saint-Laurent area of Quebec Province, Canada. The improvements will be carried out in 2010-2011 and the investment will allow 129 separate projects to go ahead. In all some 3,532 jobs are also expected to benefit from the work. Meanwhile US$136 million (C$141 million) will be spent by 1521 Quebec's Ministry of Transport on repairing and rebuilding roads in the Gaspésie and Îles-de-la-Madeleine regions of the Province.

    Plans are in hand for major upgrades to Russia’s road network. Russian Highways (Avtodor) aims to construct 958km of roads, as well as to reconstruct 963km of road and improve 700km of road bed by 2019. According to the Saint Petersburg Association of Road Complex Enterprises, ASDOR, around US$1.95 billion is required to upgrade, repair or improve small bridges across the country.
