Volvo CE pavers have been used on a key infrastructure job in Montana

Based in Montana, contractor 8155 Century Companies is now benefiting from an updated fleet of asphalt paving machines from 359 Volvo CE.

The company has operated Volvo CE’s Blaw-Knox pavers for many years and also has two Blaw-Knox PF510s, two PF3200s and a PF410 as well as Volvo DD70, DD118 and DD25B double drum compactors.

However it has now added two of the 3m class P7110 tracked machines to its fleet. These were used on a job some 16km from the North Dakota border on the periphery of the Bakken Formation. This area is peppered with more than 6,000 active oil wells and is the largest oil field in the world, meeting 10% of US demand.

With demand increasing, the towns in the area are having to improve infrastructure and Town Pump, a Montana fuel station and convenience store, is building a super truck stop just outside Sidney at the intersection of Montana Highway 16/200.

Century is carrying out one of its largest parking lot paving contracts, laying more than 5,000m2 of asphalt. The crew laid two 70mm compacted base mat layers and a 50mm top layer.
