The new Ammann soil compactor offers high performance and productivity
6791 Ammann is following last year's launch of its 17.5tonne ASC170 compactor with models weighing from 11-16tonnes. The ASC110, ASC130 and ASC150 share features with the bigger machine as well as having a reduced drum frame width and a revised weight distribution over the models they replace. The firm says that the design changes improve efficiency making them comparable in productivity with conventional products in the next higher weight category. Compact dimensions increase manoeuvrability and stability of the machines and also make transportation easier and cheaper. With these new models, the ASC110-ASC170 compactors now offer maximum working weights of 11-17.8tonnes, working widths up to 2.13m and have fully hydraulic drives with low centres of gravity for stability.

Ammann claims high productivity and performance for its powerful new plate compactor. The newly-developed APH 110-95 widens the firm’s range of triple-shaft units and delivers 110kN, making it this is the most powerful vibratory plate compactor ever built by Ammann. This innovative unit is said to set new performance standards and features a fully hydraulic enclosed drive system with no V-belts and no centrifugal clutch, eliminating wearing parts in the drive. Smooth operation is claimed as a result, with p

Increased performance and more durable construction are key features of new generation excavators – Mike Woof writes. All the major equipment manufacturers are introducing new hydraulic excavators to meet market demand. These machines are offering increased output at the same time as producing lower emission levels and burning less fuel than before. From Caterpillar for instance comes its new 330F, which features a maximum operating weight of 29.75tonnes and is powered by a 178kW Cat C7.1 ACERT diesel that
