A high production paving job has been achieved by German contractor 1289 Rask Mecklenburg on a site in Stockelsdorf, Ostholstein. A 2394 Volvo ABG7820 asphalt paver was used by the firm to surface a new road link providing construction access to a housing development. The construction road needed to have a strong asphalt base layer to cope with heavy construction vehicles and the contractor managed to build the new link using 500tonnes of asphalt in a working shift of just eight hours. The new road had to be strong but simple as the development would then include access roads to the properties. The firm managed to lay the asphalt base layer on a 400m by 6.5m wide stretch, with the compaction roller following directly behind.
