Neal Manufacturing is introducing a new sealcoating baffle attachment that is said to boost efficiency.

A division of 2647 Blastcrete Equipment, Neal Manufacturing has designed its DA 350 Dual Applicator so that it can be retrofitted onto any truck-powered sealcoating unit. The piece of equipment can be used to automatically cut-in sealcoat materials on the go, while keeping curbs and edges free of material. The unit can be paired with Neal’s high-powered blower to further increase sealcoat preparation productivity.

The firm says it designed the hydraulic AutoTrim to address the time-consuming, manual task of cutting in, as well as to improve the sealcoating process. The hydraulic AutoTrim features a spray nozzle, hose and baffle that bolts to the front of the machine and connects directly to the applicator’s sealcoat reservoir. The system reduces manpower which means there is no need for an operator to hold a baffle and spraying material. Combined with Neal’s blower, contractors can clear debris with the blower and cut in with sealcoating materials as fast as 4.26m/s, seven times faster than with manual tools.

The DA 350’s hydraulic blower triples the output of a walk-behind blower and contractors can rotate the unit for transportation or operation. The nozzle on the blower articulates 360°. Neal’s DA 350 Dual Applicator is a three-wheeled, self-propelled sealcoating machine that features a 1,325litre tank and allows contractors to apply sealcoat with squeegee and spray systems.

The heavy-duty squeegee assembly has internal baffles that help distribute material more evenly. After applying a coat with the squeegee, contractors can apply a second coat with the DA 350’s spray bar, which can expand up to 3.66m wide. A spray coat also can be applied with a 1.83m hand wand and 22.86m of reinforced hose for added versatility. Neal’s dual application system allows contractors to fill voids in the asphalt surface using the squeegee. They can then apply a second coat with the spray bar for a smooth finish that lasts up to 40% longer than a job done with two spray coats.

The control panel allows users to access all electrical controls from one location, while the machine has LED working lights at the front and back for night-time working. The DA 350’s heavy-duty aggregate pump is hydraulic-powered and can transfer up to 378litres material/minute.

The load-sensing HDP produces enough pressure to pump modified sealers, emulsions and mastics for asphalt roads, as well as mixes with high sand content. The DA 350 can be powered by a 28kW Kohler petrol engine, or a 26kW Kubota diesel.

A key feature is that operation of the spray module has been integrated into the sophisticated ErgoPlus 3 operating system. The module has also been designed as a completely self-contained functional unit. It features a modular design that makes the system simpler to service and allows it to be used both as a spray paver and as a conventional asphalt paver. The paver has a maximum spray width of 6m.
