New pavers for 2016

The list of manufacturers introducing new asphalt pavers in 2016 is long, with improved units for both European and US markets being made available. Note that this section summarises new models mentioned in the March and May issues of World Highways. Designed to meet European requirements, there are three new models from 6791 Ammann, the ultra-compact wheeled AFW150-2 for tasks such as road repairs as well as the larger AF 350-2 and AF 500-2, which are available in both wheeled and tracked variants.

161 Atlas Copco introduced the SD5000, SD5500 and SD1800 Citypaver in Europe, as well as the F800 and F1000 for the US market, with the latter available in wheeled or tracked format. From 172 BOMAG meanwhile was the BF 300-2, again aimed at use in small urban applications. While the firm also introduced the latest version of its BMF 2500 material transfer vehicle.

Moving up the size scale, 4018 Caterpillar Paving introduced its wheeled AP500F and rubber track AP555F pavers with a choice of either vibration only SE50 V or vibration and tamper bar SE50 VT type screeds, as well as its powerful AP1055F, available with the SE60 screed.

717 LeeBoy has new versions of its US-style pavers with Tier 4 Final engines, although the firm still offers engines to meet the needs of the lesser regulated Latin American market.

1252 Roadtec has similarly upgraded its US market RP-175e and 190e pavers with Tier 4 Final engines. These machines have Roadtec’s Eagle 8 screed and the 2599 Carlson EZ-IV screed as standard. However, it is worth noting though that Roadtec also offers a European-style paver in the shape of its German-made, steel tracked RP-2505, with its high-density tamper bar screed.

1194 Vögele introduced new pavers both for the European and US markets. For Europe the new version of the Super 1800-3i SprayJet can be fitted with either AB 500 or AB 600 screeds, which are available with tamper and vibration or tamper and pressure bar variants. For the US market meanwhile, the firm rolled out its tracked SUPER 2000-3i and wheeled SUPER 2003-3i pavers, with a range of VF 600, VR 600 and European-style AB 600 screed options.

359 Volvo CE meanwhile introduced the new P7820C ABG and P8820C ABG pavers for Europe, while the firm unveiled the tracked P7110B and wheeled P7170B Blaw Know pavers for the US market.
