Vietnam’s Transport Ministry is well on track with its plans for the design and construction of the Danang-Quang Ngai Expressway. This 139km highway will link Tuy Loan Town in Hoa Vang District of Danang and the west side of Quang Ngai City. It is expected to cost US$1.33 billion to construct and the 2416 Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is to provide $673 million to build the 74km Tam Ky-Quang Ngai section, while the 65km-Danang City and Tam Ky section will receive funding worth $631 million from the 2332 World Bank. Project Management Unit 85 of Vietnam’s Transport Ministry awarded the $12.1 million contract to design the expressway to an international consortium. The highway will stretch 654km across the country, speeding transport and helping develop trade and tourism. Because of the project’s scale, the work is being split into 11 separate stretches and should be complete by 2025.
