The Australian Flexible Pavement Association (AfPA) has issued a call for abstracts for its international conference in Brisbane next year.

The AfPA International Conference 2023 will explore the challenges and identify strategies that the paving sector faces as it strives to achieve carbon zero projects in a safe and sustainable way.

The AfPA says that the topics submitted should demonstrate an actual or potential practical contribution to the planning, design, construction, maintenance and management of transport infrastructure or the use of innovation and technology to improve or replace current products and processes.

Deadline for abstract submissions is 10 February with papers due by 19 May.

AfPA, a membership organisation, represents state road authorities and local councils from across Australia as well as private sector paving specialists and contractors.

The conference will run from 30 October to 1 November at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre – BCEC - in Brisbane.

Downer is an integrated infrastructure services provide in Australia and New Zealand. He also holds board positions at Bitumen Importers Australia as well as RePurposeIT.
