1194 Vögele is introducing a new medium class tracked paver, the SUPER 1600-3i and its rubber tyred sibling, the SUPER 1603-3i. The company is also offering an update to its SprayJet package for paving thin overlays.

Both the SUPER 1600-3i and SUPER 1603-3i share the benefits of the firm’s Dash 3 features, with the tracked machine able to handle paving widths up to 7.5m and the rubber tyred version offer a maximum width of 7m.

Highly manoeuvrable, these pavers are said to offer good fuel economy coupled with low exhaust emissions. The sophisticated controls for the engine and hydraulics help to optimise power delivery and performance, while minimising fuel consumption and working noise. When the machine is stationary, all hydraulic pumps for traction, conveyors and augers as well as compaction are automatically disengaged after one minute, cutting fuel consumption and reducing drag, which makes it easier to start the paver at low outside temperatures. The variable-speed fan is driven via a viscous coupling and adapts to the engine load and the ambient temperature.

The machine has the proven PaveDock Assistant system, which improves communications between the paver operator and the driver of the feed vehicle and uses signal lights mounted on the right and left of the hardtop. The firm also offer the sprung PaveDock push-rollers, which absorb impact when the feed vehicle docks onto the paver.

In addition a sensor in the sprung push-rollers sends a signal that triggers a stop symbol for the driver of the feed vehicle, improving the smoothness of the material transfer.

The proven ErgoPlus operating system is now equipped with a new, high-contrast colour display for better readability in poor lighting conditions, while retaining the self-explanatory symbols and ease of adjustment. The AutoSet Plus system makes it easier to continue working when changing between job site sections or after the paver has been transported.

Selecting the execute button will move the screed, augers, hopper, conveyors and deflectors into transport position when moving the machine and then also lower these to the same settings at the new working area. An automatic function allows the paving crew to store specific programs in the paving process. Once stored, the program can then be retrieved and reused whenever needed.

The machines can be powered by engines that meet local emissions standards, with the 3a variants suiting use in North America and Europe.

Updates are also offered for the SUPER 1800-3i SprayJet model, which is designed for paving thin overlays as well as conventional binder and surface courses. The company is also now integrating the control panel for the spray module into the VÖGELE ErgoPlus 3 operating system. The spray module is configured as a stand-alone functional unit. This design makes the SUPER 1800-3i SprayJet easy to maintain and also able to be used as both a spray paver and a conventional asphalt paver. The maximum spray width is 6m, but as a conventional asphalt paver without spray functionality the pave width can be as much as 9m. This also features the EcoPlus, AutoSet Plus, PaveDock and PaveDock Assistant systems.

This versatile machine can be used as a conventional road paver of the higher mid-range or a special machine for special jobs. The SUPER 1800-3i SprayJet package is based on the modular machine concept from the firm. The machine can be used with the SprayJet module or, with only minor conversions, as a conventional asphalt paver.
