XCMG’s largest excavator for extraction sector

XCMG is now offering its 700tonne class hydraulic excavator to the extraction sector. The machine is the largest hydraulic excavator currently built in China and is powered by twin diesels, rated at 1,270kW each. The machine is 23.5m long and its 5m wide bucket offers a capacity of 34m3 and can carry up to 50tonnes/pass. The excavator is able to deliver a digging force at the stick of 230tonnes and has been designed to work with XCMG’s 216tonne and 270tonne capacity haul trucks. It features a novel dual-po

The machine is the largest hydraulic excavator currently built in China and is powered by twin diesels, rated at 1,270kW each. The machine is 23.5m long and its 5m wide bucket offers a capacity of 34m3 and can carry up to 50tonnes/pass. The excavator is able to deliver a digging force at the stick of 230tonnes and has been designed to work with 2490 XCMG’s 216tonne and 270tonne capacity haul trucks. It features a novel dual-power assembly coupling control system, a high pressure hydraulic system with intelligent monitoring and self-diagnostics technology. The dual-power hydraulic drive system is modular in design while the machine also benefits from an auto-oil supply, to lower maintenance needs. According to XCMG, the development of the excavator has resulted in 52 separate patents also.

This machine shares some design features with the firm’s own 280tonne class excavator, an electric version of which has been well-proven in a very tough application, operating at an altitude of 5,400m on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The 280tonne machine has been working successfully in the operation, loading a fleet of XCMG haulers. This is in spite of the extreme cold experienced at the site in winter months, as well as the lower atmospheric pressures of its high altitude location.

The excavator and wheeled loader segments represent massive sales volumes for manufacturers, so new model development is prioritised - Mike Woof writes. The crawler excavator segment accounts for a substantial portion of total sales of construction machines. With this in mind, it is no surprise that this is a market segment for which manufacturers prioritise a significant proportion of their research and development budgets. Wheeled loaders, while not selling in quite such large numbers as crawler excava

XCMG recently constructed the third high-speed, stabilised soil mixing plant XC800S at high altitude on Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the world's highest and largest plateau. The installation is for a project that forms part of China’s Grand Western Development and Belt and Road Initiative. This was a part of the demand for four cost-effective, high-speed stabilised soil mixing plants. To construct such a giant equipment on the plateau presented a huge challenge as the area has a harsh environment, with low temp

Excavators, wheeled loaders and ADTs have all seen improvements for this year. New developments in earthmoving machines continue to help improve working efficiency for contractors. The excavator market is the largest single segment of the construction machine sector, with competition being tough between the major players, and a steady stream of new models coming to market. Doosan has launched the new Stage IV compliant DX225LC-5 crawler excavator, which is said to offer high performance, fuel efficiency, r
