Hitachi Construction Machinery Europe (1139 HCME) is now offering a wider ZW wheel loader range with the addition of its ZW140PL and ZW150PL models, featuring the parallel linkage (PL) configuration  for duties in a range of applications using an array of attachments.

Both machines share features with the standard ZW140 and ZW150 wheel loaders such as high performance, comfort, safety and low running costs, and can be used with fork attachments and large-volume buckets for loading relatively light materials. When the arm of a PL wheel loader is raised, the change in angle of the attachment is minimal compared to a standard wheel loader equipped with a Z-link loading mechanism, suiting it to fork-lifting applications. Twin bucket cylinders are fitted and the machines can raise loads to a higher position than a standard wheel loader.

Other features include low running costs, easy maintenance long-life bushings and a throttle limiter that can cut fuel consumption by up to 12%. The diesel in the 12tonne ZW140PL is rated at 96kW and the engine in the 13.4tonne ZW150PL delivers 107kW, while standard bucket capacities range from 1.8-1.9m3 and 2-2.1m3.

Engines and drivelines technologies have move forward, as could be seen at Conexpo 2014 - Geoff Ascroft reports Solutions for Tier 4 Final emissions regulations dominated Conexpo 2014, with many firms showing off their options of DOC, DPF and SCR after-treatments. Deutz, while staying with an SCR-only solution, took a more unusual approach on its high horsepower V6 12litre and V8 16litre engines. Both get a dual SCR after treatment system to meet Tier 4 Final emission standards. Using a dual SCR system,
