The Generation 10 articulated hauler is now developing sales in the Southern Africa region, while the rigid haulers such as the top-of-the-range TR100 are also said to be proving popular. With a series of investments, 8081 Terex Trucks has been working together with Babcock to strengthen the perception of its articulated and rigid haulers, through factory visits to the manufacturer’s headquarters in Motherwell, Scotland, undertaking ongoing technical training to learn more about how to better support the machines.

Erik Lundberg, business manager in sub-Saharan Africa for Terex Trucks said, “Right from the start, we were convinced our partnership with Babcock would be a great one. They didn’t hold back on securing stock to safeguard the availability of components and parts in southern Africa.”

Babcock’s new state-of-the-art branch in Middelburg is equipped with purpose-built workshops for the machines. And when the firm took over the support for the range, it not only purchased a number of trucks for its initial stock holding but also invested heavily in stocking parts for the machines.

The articulated dump trucks, the TA300 and TA400, are now proving particularly strong sellers in the extraction sector in Southern Africa. Lundberg said, “The ADT market has been buoyant since the second half of last year and demand continues to be strong in the southern African market in 2017.”

Both the TA300 and TA400 Generation 10 machines have been well received throughout the region. And Terex Trucks launched its extended two years or 6,000 hours warranty on factory-approved parts in March 2017. “Being able to offer the extended parts warranty in southern Africa is a part of Terex Trucks’ investment into the territory,” said Lundberg.

Compact and versatile, the articulated haulers provide productivity and low cost of operation with high tractive effort and power-to-weight ratios. Fully independent front suspension is standard on the TA300, optimising tyre to ground contact on rough terrain, increasing tractive effort and reducing cycle times while also providing a more comfortable ride.
