359 Volvo CE wheeled loaders are helping increase productivity at a processing plant in Saudi Arabia. And the firm has long relied on machines from Volvo CE to help in production. “We have a long relationship with Volvo,” says Ali Al Mubarak, managing director at Saudi Dolomite. “We started out with two small BM wheeled loaders over 30 years ago and due to their uptime and reliability, in what are really harsh conditions, I’d say we have grown this business together.”

Saudi Dolomite’s crushing and calcination plant produces lime (pure calcium oxide) and dolime (calcium oxide with magnesium content) from limestone rock found in the two quarries it sub-contracts. Volvo BM L150 and Volvo L180F wheeled loaders are used for material handling and loading duties across the site.

Required to work 12-hour shifts, the machines have passed the 50,000 hours mark. Saudi Dolomite also operates 35 Volvo on-highway trucks for shipping in addition to wheeled loaders. The machines were supplied by FAMCO, Volvo CE’s dealer in the region, which also provides the service that helps ensure the uptime needed.

Whether you are in the global Volvo Ocean Race or working on-site locally, sustainability is about attitude as much as technology. David Arminas reports. Technology, sustainability and safety. A fleet of wheeled loaders is playing an important role at a site producing concrete in China. Located at Lintong in Shaanxi Province, in China, the site is producing concrete using gravel from river plains. Lintong lies 35km to the east of Xi’An in western China, the site of the famous Terracotta Army. This new army of SDLG wheeled loaders meanwhile is being used to load gravel from the nearby river plains for Jinsheng Concrete, which sits on the 800km Wei River.
