Cat's new towed scrapers feature a heavy-duty design and large load capacities
The addition of four towed-scraper models to the Cat product line positions 178 Caterpillar as the leading manufacturer of hauling systems for the earthmoving industry, claims the company.

The new models, TS180 and TS220 with two rear wheels and TS185 and TS225 with four rear wheels, feature an innovative, heavy-duty design and large load capacities for durable productivity in construction applications.

"Exclusive in the industry, Cat towed scrapers come standard with dry-disc brakes. The new models further expand customer choices by complementing existing Cat hauling systems, including the articulated and rigid frame trucks loaded by hydraulic excavators and wheel loaders as well as the wheel tractor scraper and track-type tractor," says Caterpillar.

Caterpillar says that the addition of the new TRS23 Tiltrotator System (TRS), from its Work Tools division delivers a full portfolio of TRS configurations for its wheeled and crawler excavators weighing 23-30tonnes. The TRS23 has an integrated control system that boosts carrier versatility and attachment control. The unit can rotate 360° in either direction and tilt up to 40° left and right. This allows the carrier to reach more work areas from a single position and to manoeuvre around obstacles. The TRS

  • Surface quality a key trend in asphalt paving
    March 7, 2012
Improved surface quality and improved machine design are key trends in the asphalt paving sector, Mike Woof reports There is a big difference in asphalt paving techniques in North America and Europe. In North America, the need to construct long stretches of highway quickly resulted in wide pavers offering high throughput capacity, with compaction equipment then being used to achieve the required density of the various courses. In Europe's highway construction projects, distances tend to be shorter and contr
