FAE tops up its top-of-the-range MTH multitask attachments

FAE Group has restyled its MTH top-of-the-range multitask attachments for 225-375kW (300-500hp) tractors. The MTH is also now available in a high power models, the MTH/HP.

The high power model MTH/HP features a transmission designed for tractors up to 375kW (500hp)

FAE says that the key to the MTH (multitask heavy) attachment is its versatility. Road tasks can be performed with a single attachment: soil stabilisation as well as breaking down stones and crushing rock or asphalt with a maximum operating depth of 50cm.

The new models feature a next-generation frame and a series of technical innovations including an upgraded variable displacement chamber.

The variable displacement chamber, introduced in 2009, enables ground penetration with just the rotor, as it may be adjusted from the tractor cab. The volume of the crushing chamber, where the earth is blended, is variable - the deeper the work, the larger the volume of the chamber. Compared with machines that sink into the ground with their frame, the variable displacement chamber reduces traction forces, lowers fuel consumption, speeds up operations.

Two kind of rotors are available for maximum machine customisation and optimal performance in all working conditions

FAE says that the upgraded variable displacement chamber has perfect synchronisation of vertical rotor movement through the action of two piston rods.

It is also possible to control the particle size of material processed by adjusting the grill on the rear hood and the Hardox counter blade located inside the crushing chamber. This allows fine or coarse material to be obtained according to requirements or specifications set by project management.

The high power model features a transmission designed for tractors up to 375kW (500hp). It has a strengthened central gearbox, thicker shafts and parallel axis reduction gears capable of transferring greater torque and power to the rotor.

Because of the power surplus required by the HP version, new cooling systems have been installed for the central gearbox and parallel axis reduction gears. This prevents transmission oil from overheating, guaranteeing optimum performance, as well as longer-lasting components.

Being compatibility with very powerful tractors, the MTH/HP is a perfect partner for challenging terrain, says FAE. The MTH/HP 225 has a maximum operating width of 2,320mm and a total width of 2,901mm. Meanwhile, the MTH/HP 250’s maximum operating is width 2,560mm and its total width is 3,141mm.

Rotors, tools and options

Two kind of rotors are available for maximum machine customisation and optimal performance in all working conditions. The forged steel tool holders are attached to the rotor with a robotic welding process and can hold multiple types of high-quality tools. All FAE tools are manufactured in steel with tungsten-carbide tips to provide exceptional durability.

Another option is the FCS (full control system) that provides exceptional supply and distribution of water. It also stabilises the liquid binding agent. Using this intuitive system, the operator is able to establish the exact amount of liquid from the display, based on the road surface (litres per square metre) or mixing volume (litres per cubic metre) and track how much volume of earth has been processed.

The FCS also controls the rotor working depth, the hood opening and the nozzles, activating or deactivating them as needed.

The exceptional construction quality of the MTH model can also be seen in the finishes and materials used, such as high-resistance Hardox for the counter blades and the bolt-on internal plates of the crushing chamber - easily replaceable without dismantling the rotor.
