High production drilling is claimed whren using Atlas Copco's new T-WiZ drill string system
161 Atlas Copco says that its latest T-thread drilling system offers up to 30% longer service life over previous designs

The new T-WiZ drill string comes with a combination of T-WiZ Speedrods and T-WiZ shank adapters and this system allows fewer rod changes and more productivity/shift. The T-WiZ features a tough thread system and is robust enough to prevent product breakage in the blast hole

Using this system boosts bench and production drilling according to the firm, with increases in productivity and an increase in capacity. The system can drill more holes/shift, allowing quicker blasting and a rapid advance

Markuu Teräsvasara, president Atlas Copco surface drilling, was among those providing a glimpse of the future of drilling. He said that three futuristic drill rig models on show at INTERMAT, codenamed ROC Xone, ROC Xtwo and ROC Xthree, were examples of how the company’s designers are developing new systems. It is claimed they will offer extreme silencing and independently operated booms; separate wheel positioning systems for difficult terrain while flattening for loading and transport, and also fit into a

    July 30, 2019
Sandvik says its new drilling tool system Alpha 360 is a reinforced and amplified version that complements the company’s Alpha 330 system. It can last twice as long as a standard thread in the industry. Its hole accuracy also enables higher productivity in tunneling and mine development, says Robert Grandin, product manager for underground top hammer, at Sandvik Rock Tools. The Alpha 360, with its strong tread design, is designed for hole diameters of 48-51mm in face drilling and bolting. The short thread

    March 5, 2015
Chinese firms are now gearing up to tackle the quarrying market - Mike Woof writes. One of the key developments of note for the bauma China exhibition in late 2014 was the number of Chinese manufacturers now looking to compete in the quarrying sector. Also of note was how Western manufacturers are also taking the emergent markets seriously, developing machines to counter this increased competition from China. In many cases Western manufacturers have partnered with Chinese firms, bought out Chinese companies
