Dozing performer

Case Construction Equipment is aiming two new mid-size dozers aimed at precision grading and heavy duty earthmoving applications. The larger 1650L and smaller 1150K feature high performance hydrostatic drives, which allow full power turns. The 1650L is driven by a Tier 3 compliant diesel rated at 107kW while the 1150K has the same model engine but rated at 88kW. In both cases peak torque arrives at just 1,400rpm, and has been developed for powerful low down torque characteristics, ideal for dozer applications.

The machines have dual path PowerStat hydrostatic transmissions, with variable axial piston pumps and motors delivering a maximum drawbar pull of 275.1kN in the larger machine and 213.5kN in the 1150K. As the transmission delivers drive to each track independently, it is possible to continue to push at full power throughout a turn.

Stricter emissions legislation mean that new engine technology and integrated drivetrain systems are being developed. With the Tier 3/Stage IIIA emissions legislation now in place in North America and Europe, the major engine manufacturers already have an array of solutions on the market. The coming Tier 4 interim/Stage IIIB legislation will be tougher still and most firms are well in hand with their plans to use both in-cylinder and exhaust after-treatment technology. While engines themselves are staying b

New Holland’s 200 Series compact track loaders and skid steer loaders will now benefit from Tier 4 Final compliant engines. The next generation models of skid steer and compact track loaders maintains the same compact dimensions of the previous variants while delivering more power and torque than before. The improved skid steer loaders offer greater productivity, torque and fuel economy, while the new radial-lift Tier 4 Final L216 skid steer loader is said to provide best-in-class peak torque. Most of the changes are for better operator comfort and controllability of the machine. But there are also changes in the driveline and electrical systems. The most important development is an upgrade of the suspension to a hydro-gas self-lev
