695 Doosan Infracore Construction Equipment has launched its new Stage IIIB compliant DX380LC-3 large crawler excavator.

In addition to offering what Doosan says is outstanding performance levels and exceptional fuel efficiency compared to other machines in the 34 to 42tonne market, the new DX380LC-3 excavator is said to offer improved visibility, comfort, controlability and ease of operation. A new joggle/shuttle control is said to be an exclusive feature on new generation Doosan excavators.

The new DX380LC-3 excavator is said by the South Korean company to be able to handle a broad range of applications such as heavy earthmoving, road building, civil engineering, demolition, quarrying and large scale material-handling.

It is said by Doosan to offer up to a 22% increase in productivity (m3) to fuel consumption (l) ratio; 23% more pump flow; 40tonne plus class size undercarriage for optimum stability; a 15% increase in drawbar pull; a 15% increase in front lifting capacity; and a new optional narrow (3m) undercarriage.

The new DX380LC-3 excavator is powered by the Doosan DL08K ‘common rail’ six-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine. The engine is said to meet Stage IIIB engine emission regulations through the use of EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) and Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) after-treatment technologies.  Combined with an 8% increase in torque, the Doosan DL08K engine is said by Doosan to deliver 5% more power [213 kW].

A new high-quality, heated air suspension seat is said to reduce operator fatigue, while a new cab suspension system helps to cut vibration by 20% and reduce the noise in the cab to as low as 71 dB(A).

Doosan says the DX380LC-3’s cab is pressurised to prevent particles from entering it.
The cab’s lighting capability has been increased by 100% to facilitate working at night. A side camera is available as a safety option. Other convenient in-cab features include fully automatic climate control, a USB port to play music and videos, and more storage compartments.

Like its fellow new 9A series hydraulic excavators with engines above 130kW, the engine on the Robex R380NLC-9A hydraulic crawler excavator from Hyundai Heavy Industries (HI) comes with an EGR and diesel particulate filter (DPF). The DPF is said to be automatically or manually regenerated, ensuring compliance with all NOx and PM values. According to Hyundai HI, DPF filters only need to be cleaned after 5,000 to 6,000 hours in operation.
