Doosan’s high performance, heavyweight excavator

Doosan is introducing a high-performance, heavyweight crawler excavator in the shape of the DX800LC-5B. This machine is aimed at the 80tonne crawler excavator class in emergent territories and is said to offer optimum value to the end-user. Advantages are said to include high productivity and fuel efficiency, as well as operator comfort, improved reliability and durability and maximum uptime. It is designed to meet the needs of heavy-duty quarrying applications as well as major infrastructure construction projects.

Doosan is offering its powerful DX800LC-5B excavator to markets such as construction and quarrying

The machine has a long crawler design, combined with a wide undercarriage expanded for optimum stability and safety in digging, lifting and loading applications.

Built with proven main components and offering a robust design, the DX800LC-5B is said to allows customers to work in time-critical operations, with a minimum of downtime. Its components are said to be customised for use in large equipment, delivering high power, productivity and durability.

Power comes from a new 358kW diesel and the machine also benefits from a comprehensive advanced and intelligent hydraulic system (ecoPower).

The DX800LC-5B features an Electronic Control Unit, which optimises engine performance to deliver maximum fuel efficiency. The ecoPower technology is said to further optimise the hydraulic system and utilises an electronic pressure-controlled pump. This is within a closed centre hydraulic system, boosting productivity and lowering fuel consumption. A closed centred main control valve minimises pressure loss, while the electric pressure-controlled pump is said to manage and optimise engine power.

The ecoPower system uses sensors to detect the quantity of hydraulic oil necessary to accomplish a specific task and precisely control the system. This is instead of continuously forcing a fixed amount of oil through the system.

Software is utilised to electronically reproduce the full benefits of an open centre hydraulic system with little energy loss. The hydraulic system and engine power are optimised and synchronised, further reducing losses within the system. This ensures that the high hydraulic flow of 1008litres/min from the hydraulic pump is shared efficiently, producing fast cycle times and allowing high productivity levels.

The DX800LC-5B has a spacious operator cab, equipped with ergonomic controls and instrumentation. Meanwhile, noise is minimised by improved sealing of the engine compartment and extensive use of sound-dampening materials.

Operators can be more productive and work more effectively at night with high-quality LED work lights and an Around View Monitoring (AVM) system provides a 360° view from the cab.

All components and assemblies are designed, built and tested to ensure durability. Multistage filters and features such as track guards, the auto grease system and greased and sealed track links are designed to provide superior reliability and a long service life. The DX800LC-5B is easy to maintain, further reducing downtime.

To ensure that the DX800LC-5B is ideal for working on tough applications, the machine is equipped with a reversing fan, to make sure that the cooling systems are always operating optimally.
