Bomag's compact compactor

Bomag’s new remote control compactor is designed for performance, reliability and durability

Bomag is introducing a new generation, radio remote-controlled multi-purpose compactor. The BMP 8500 compactor is said to be powerful and robust and features an improved radio control system over previous models.

The firm says that using radio control offers better performance than infrared systems, which allows multiple units to operate simultaneously onsite. Should a remote control unit go missing, a new unit can be paired without the need for special knowledge or tools.

Ergonomically shaped joysticks make precise control easier and the controller has two batteries that enable a continuous running time of 35-40 hours. The optional charger allows the second battery to be charged while the machine operates. The charger can also fit into the roller's storage compartment.

Bomag's new roller has a variable working width that can be adjusted easily from 610-850mm. The machine is designed for low maintenance and dependable operation. Encasing the exciter housing prevents water and dirt from entering, which increases reliability. The articulated joint requires no grease nipples, further reducing maintenance requirements.

The integrated Bomag Operator Safety System (BOSS) automatically shuts down the machine if it comes too close to the operator. The Bomag Economizer allows operators to identify soft spots in the fill and avoid making and unnecessary passes.
