The new Blade Runner Series B from 5895 New Holland combines the characteristics of a crawler excavator and a crawler dozer.

The combination of two machines is the solution that New Holland designed to enable the user to carry out different jobs with a single product.

The Blade Runner from New Holland and its partner 2200 Kobelco (who have developed the Series B by combining the technological experience of the two manufacturers) allows the operator to work with precision and agility in applications such as digging ditches and channels, laying pipes, refilling, earthmoving, lifting, levelling and the finishing of embankments.

It is equipped with a structure derived from the E135B SR (Short Radius) and is a 14tonne crawler excavator with a one-piece arm, mounted on a special undercarriage and built with the same components as the 20tonne category excavators.

As standard equipment, the Blade Runner has a six-way blade which as well as lifting and lowering, can turn to right and left and swing on the vertical plane, rotating in both directions.

The hydraulically assisted controls remain unvaried for the excavator function, while for operation as a crawler dozer they are controlled to a single joystick.

The two new-generation high-capacity pumps with low noise production are driven by the 3055 Mitsubishi Tier 3A engine, 74 kW and 2,000 rpm, with 6% more power than the previous version. The hydraulic system, with the new Hydrotronic Active Operation Aid system, has computerised control of the flow rate of the pumps and works in two different modes, heavy duty and standard.

The new version is also equipped with the Integrated Noise Reduction System, patented by New Holland, to reduce the noise level from 97dB to 92dB, and a spacious cab has been enhanced with a new ergonomic seat (the armrests are built into the side console and offer ideal support) and the arrangement of the pedal controls is also new, with a greater distance between the pedals and the seat, so as to ease driving of the machine. All the controls are within hand's reach and are ergonomically arranged on the right side.

Productive performers provide increased output for customers in the loading and hauling sector of the earthmoving market - Mike Woof writes. Loading and hauling machines play key roles in earthmoving operations, with the excavator and ADT combination proving both versatile and productive. While machines such as scrapers may be more efficient in specific earthmoving applications, these do not offer the versatility of the excavator and ADT combination, reducing utilisation.
