Poland’s €17.5bn from EU for transport infrastructure 2014-2020

Poland is to benefit from a €17.5 billion investment in its transport infrastructure from 2014-2020, according to the country’s Deputy Minister for Regional Development, Adam Zdzieblo. The substantial sum is part of an over EU Infrastructure and Environment programme worth over €24.1 billion. Poland is to benefit from a €17.5 billion investment in its transport infrastructure from 2014-2020, according to the country’s Deputy Minister for Regional Development, Adam Zdzieblo.

The substantial sum is part of an over 3287 EU Infrastructure and Environment programme worth over €24.1 billion. Other than transport, areas of investment will be the same as for the previous EU programme, including health protection, culture, energy, and environmental protection. The exception is higher education, which will come under Intelligent Development.

In addition to funds from the 2014-2020 programme, improvements to Poland’s transport infrastructure will also be aided by the Connecting Europe Facility, which has allotted at least €4 billion to developing infrastructure in the country. Deputy Minister Zdzieblo added that the new EU programme will probably be fully operational by mid-2014.
