RSSWork on the new Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge crossing the Colorado River and providing a road link between Nevada and Arizona has now been completed. The bridge forms part of the Hoover Bypass, a project worth some US$240 million.

This new bypass route replaces the highly congested US Route 93, a two-lane road running along the top of the Hoover Dam itself. This route has been unable to cope with the increased volumes of traffic and long queues of vehicles have formed at peak periods, especially since the terrorist attacks on the US in 2001, due to the need for security checkpoints. Heavy trucks have also been forbidden from using the US95 link over the dam and have had to take alternative routes.
