The authorities in Moscow intend to extend the Alabyano-Baltyisky Tunnel along Bolshaya Akademicheskaya Street. This would require building an additional underpass under a railway. Should the plan go ahead, the tunnel would measure 29km in length. The total project is estimated to cost US$2.3 billion. The city plans to complete major work by December 2011.
