Hanoi's road development plans

In Vietnam the authorities in the city of Hanoi are reducing the budget available for tackling traffic congestion control.

In Vietnam the authorities in the city of Hanoi are reducing the budget available for tackling traffic congestion control. In the coming five years, the city will finish an array of projects. A series of bridges will be built across the Duong River and Red River. New road links will be buil and these include, Van Dien-Ngoc Hoi road, Phu Lo - Noi Bai Airport road, National Highway 32 (Cau Dien-Nhon section) road, Cau Chui-Cau Duong road and the road from Nhat Tan to Noi Bai International Airport. Other roads being built in Hanoi centre include Kim Ma - Tran Phu, Ton That Tung - belt road No 3, Yen Hoa - Vietnam Ethnology Museum, Van Cao - West Lake and Cat Linh - La Thanh.

The project is expected to cost in the region of US$157 million and four contractors will work on the construction of the 3.2km long Bình Tiên Bridge. The plans call for the bridge to carry four traffic lanes and be from 30-40m wide, although the design has yet to be finalised.
