Hanoi's highways on high

The authorities in Hanoi are putting forward a novel if potentially costly solution to tackling the city's chronic traffic congestion problem. The Vietnamese city is known for its jammed road system and Hanoi Transport Department is proposing building elevated roads.

The authorities in Hanoi are putting forward a novel if potentially costly solution to tackling the city's chronic traffic congestion problem. The Vietnamese city is known for its jammed road system and Hanoi Transport Department (2560 Vietnam's Ministry of Transport) is proposing building elevated roads. Some six elevated highways would be built under the plan with the city's authorities planning on investing some US$1.72 billion in the project.

    Vietnam’s Quang Ninh Province is setting out plans for major infrastructure projects. One project will be for a new tunnel link running under Cua Luc Bay, while the road projects are for the Ha Long-Cam Pha coastal route and the Van Don-Mong Cai Highway.     Colombia’s Santander Department is to see major investment in repairing and improving its road network. The Colombian Transport Ministry intends to spend US$2.4 billion on a series of road repairs and upgrades. Major highways being improved under the plans include the Curos-Malaga road and the Bucaramanga-Cuestaboba link. The Curos-Malaga road upgrade is expected to cost around $77 million while the Bucaramanga-Cuestaboba improvement project is likely to cost some $43.5 million.
