A new bridge in Ecuador will improve transport connections in the country. The opening of this new structure is of note as it is the longest bridge in Ecuador. The Bahia de Caraquez-San Vicente road bridge cost some US$102 million to construct.
A new bridge connecting Presidente Franco in Paraguay with Foz do Iguaçu in Brazil is now being built. The bridge will be the second spanning the Parana River in the area and is costing US$84.35 million to construct. The present Puente Internacional de la Amistad connection joins Paraguay’s Route 7 with Brazil’s Route 277 but is no longer able to cope with demand. An investment of nearly US$510 million is being planned in Bolivia for road building works. The country’s state-run road company, Administradora Boliviana de Carreteras (ABC), has plans in hand for a total of 32 road maintenance and construction projects in Santa Cruz department.
