A new bridge in Ecuador will improve transport connections in the country. The opening of this new structure is of note as it is the longest bridge in Ecuador. The Bahia de Caraquez-San Vicente road bridge cost some US$102 million to construct.
In Russia a series of road projects planned to improve connections to Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport have been cut. The new roads connecting to Domodedovo Airport are required for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. But with Russia cutting its federal budget for road development, the projects have halted. Projects affected include the reconstruction of five sections of the A105 federal highway to the airport, construction of four interchanges and nine pedestrian overpasses. A major new highway link in Chile is now open to traffic. Sacyr Concesiones opened the 103.4km highway that connects the cities of Concepción and Cabrero. The link is located in Chile’s Bio Bío Region and cost US$360 million to develop, while it is expected to generate some $1.027 billion throughout the length of the concession period.
