The latest version of XenomatiX’s road lidar XenoTrack inspection system covers two lanes in one pass.

XenomatiX, a solid state lidar company specialising in road asset management and digital twins of roads, launched the XenoTrack Single Lane system last year. Now, the company says that with the Dual Lane system, it “took a step-in easing 3D pavement measurement”.

Traditional road assessment systems are limited to measuring the width of one or part of a road lane on each pass. But XenoTrack Dual Lane surveys two neighbouring lanes in a single pass. While the vehicle drives in one lane, the system simultaneously measures the road surface condition of that lane and the neighbouring lane.

All XenoTrack products including the Dual Lane system, use a highly accurate lidar as main component, offering 3D and intensity maps of the road surface.

During the past two years, Estonia’s Road Administration has clocked up 4,021km during a retroreflectivity project on all main state roads and on basic roads. Estonia’s Road Traffic Development Department of the Estonian Road Administration has been working with ERC Consulting to gather retroreflectivity data on road markings on all main state roads and basic roads. The work has shown that out of 1,609km of main state roads, 20% had problems. The reflective effect is created by glass beads on the surf

The concrete road paving market continues to develop - Mike Woof reports Concrete road paving technology continues to evolve, with new equipment and techniques coming to market. Although concrete road construction has been used for many years, problems with early generation technologies affected this market segment. The first concrete roads were constructed in sections, which led to problems at joints but these were addressed many years ago with the advent of slipform paving. Concrete roads constructed in t
