Kapsch TrafficCom has been awarded management of Malaga’s MOVIMA - Malaga Traffic Mobility Observatory - as its MOVIMA access control system to the city centre.

The integrated mobility management system, developed by the Council with 259 Kapsch technology, uses TrafficCom’s EcoTrafiX platform with a commitment towards an integral, collaborative and analytical model as part of its Smart City strategy.

With a total investment around €5.8 million, the EcoTrafix software platform will capture and publish real-time data relating to the state of traffic. This will enable travellers to choose the best transport option for their urban journeys, promoting sustainable, safe and efficient multimode transport.

A key benefit of the project will be the capability to respond to any incident affecting urban roads and mobility by way of the installation of an Events and Incidents Management module available within EcoTrafiX, explained André Laux, chief operations officer for Kapsch TrafficCom.

Through this the council can reduce response times in the case of roadworks, bottlenecks or accidents, and establish coordinated solutions and responses.

Kapsch Group, a provider of intelligent transportation systems to projects in more than 50 countries, is a 125-year-old family-owned company headquartered in Vienna, Austria. As part of the Kapsch Group, Kapsch TrafficCom has subsidiaries and branches in more than 30 countries and is listed on the Vienna Stock exchange. Turnover for TrafficCom is around €648 million.
