161 Atlas Copco has expanded its HiLight tower range with the launch of three advanced LED plug-and-light models - P2+ as well as the V2+ and V3+

The company said that all three models can be powered directly from an auxiliary power source, the grid or a portable generator. They need minimum maintenance and feature easy portability. The manufacturer said that they are ideal for illuminating outdoor events anywhere in the world, the HiLight P2+ floodlight provides 360-degree coverage across a 2,000m² illumination area. This is a much greater distance than traditional balloon-style light towers.

The 32W LED light source’s cylindrical housing is weatherproof polyethylene that ensures no risk of burnout, meaning a longer operating lifetime. The entire assembly weighs 45kg, yet is robust, said Atlas Copco, and is certified as being wind-stable up to 50kph. The manually elevated vertical mast provides a maximum operating height of 5.5m.

Meanwhile, the HiLight V2+ and V3+ are designed for use in roadworks and construction site applications and are housed on a four-wheel trailer for ease of transportation. Both V2+ and V3+ come with a heavy-duty steel frame and are protected by polyethylene bumpers designed to the same high standards as Atlas Copco’s HardHat canopy. The V2+ light tower comprises a 320W LED light source, covering 2,000m². The HiLight V3+ is equipped with 4x120W LED lamps combined with specially designed directional glass optics capable of illuminating an area of up to 3,000m². Both the V2+ and V3+ have manually operated vertical masts that extend up to 5.5m and allow for 9° of rotation.

“The LED lamps experience no burnout problems and have a life expectancy of 30,000 hours, which contributes to lower maintenance costs and longer service intervals,” said Felix Gomez, Product Marketing Manager for Light Solutions at Atlas Copco Portable Energy.

Greek construction company Intrakat likes a challenge. It recently took on two closely scheduled airport projects – but it had only a single asphalt plant. Intrakat used the transport-optimised Ammann ABT QuickBatch Asphalt-Mixing Plant to produce mix at the airport on the island of Mykonos airport. Afterwards, the plant was packed and ferried to Kos. The upgraded runways at Mykonos and Kos are two of the 14 Greek airports being rehabilitated within seven months. Intrakat is handling mix production at
