Road safety improvements have effectively stalled in the US in 2022 at around 31,800 deaths from road crashes for the year. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) data reveals that road deaths fell by 0.2% for the first nine months of 2022.

Of concern is that speeding remains a serious issue. And for the first six months of 2022, US road deaths of pedestrians increased by 2% to 3,340 while fatalities for cyclists grew 8% to 448.
